ACADEMY EVALUATIONS (Existing Players and KSA Recreation ONLY) 2012-2013

The Academy Program is a state sponsored program that has been adopted by many area clubs and is the first step for players that desire a more challenging environment.  The Academy Director is required to hold a National Youth License and each staff coach must have appropriate coaching qualifications for working with U10 players.

The Academy focus is on an individual player’s technical development which is the building block for future development, instead of putting emphasis on teams and team results.  The Academy practices twice per week (Tuesday/Friday) with an optional third day (Wednesday) for additional technical training.  Training is set up as pool training with an assigned coach for the session who will use the practice plan set up by the Academy Director.

Evaluations are held each May, but if space is available, the Academy Director can add players at any time.  If you are interested in having your son or daughter evaluated for the Academy please contact our Academy Director, RonTalley at rtalley2@att.net.

Things You Should Know

 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • Ball size is a "4" for the U10 Academy
  • Bring your chairs if you would like to sit and watch practice.
  • Bring plenty of WATER, WATER, WATER for your kids.  It is very important to keep them hydrated, particularly when it is still very warm.  One bottle is probably not enough.  A small cooler is not a bad idea, or at least some way for your child to have something cool to drink.
  • Please do not leave your child at practice without someone knowing you have left the grounds and your cell phone number.  Preferably, one of the managers should know.  Don’t expect the coaches to take this responsibility as they have enough to worry about.  If weather gets bad, we have the unfortunate situation of an injury, decide to knock-off practice early, or anything else, we need to reach you immediately.
  • This one is probably obvious but still some forget.  Shin guards are a must at practice too.  Often times, scrimmages will occur in some form or fashion.  Certain drills with teammates can make one wish they had their shin guards on.  As they say at American Express, "don’t leave home without them!"

When practicing at Cash Elementary, there are some rules we need to follow:

  • No pets allowed
  • No parking on the gravel road leading into the back of Cash where the soccer fields are located
  • Please sit off of the track area around the practice fields as there are many folks walk/jog/run during our practice times
